I just love the sense of WONDER in my son's eyes in this photograph. Wonder is truly a gift of God that too often we lose track of as we grow up. Having children often reminds me to "stop and smell the roses" as I go busily through life's play.

Here are two of my kids running around the wood pile enjoying being outdoors. This was going to just be a nice family photograph, but when I got it into the computer, I saw much more than what I expected. When I look at this photograph, I see the passion for life and fun that children are so full of and that I'd like to recapture some of myself.

I am so thankful to God and my wife for my precious children. Here are my two youngest out for a walk in the fresh autumn air up on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. I ran ahead of them, set up my tripod, and then waited for them to come around the corner. I wanted to get an action shot because I'm getting tired of posed photos. I was happy with the result as they came walking around the corner hand-in-hand with their beautiful mother. You may have heard the hymn, "Count your many blessings, name them one by one." Well, here are three of my biggest blessings, with one missing. Because I love my son, I am careful to discipline him and train him to heed his father's instruction. I believe the wisdom found in these proverbs will help keep our children on the path of life. I believe it is their humility, which speaks to me of their ability to be teachable, to believe and trust easily, to forgive quickly and easily, and their ability to be themselves without guile or hypocrisy.
